history; Born unto Troy and Emma Callahan on the eleventh of December in 1991, Hayden Taylor Callahan was a normal baby -- no health problems, no deformities, and of a healthy size. He, however hadn't been planned, and was a surprise to the young parents nine months prior, having been accidentally conceived just one year after their wedding day. At the young age of twenty, unlike most students, both Troy and Emma had been in college and married, both attending the Syracuse University. Hayden had nearly spent the whole of his first two years at his aunt Taryn's house, the sister of his mother, while his parents finished out their degrees at university. Although the two would frequently visit, as his aunt's home lay only five miles from the Syracuse campus, Hayden grew just as attached to Taryn, and to her husband, Harlen, and to her son whom was just about his age, Caleb Lynch. This bond remains even to this day...
Unfortunately though, just a week after graduation ceremonies at Syracuse University, the night before the Callahan family were moving into their own home in a Syracuse suburb, Troy went out to fetch groceries for the Lynch-Callahan clan and didn't return. Emma and Taryn didn't panic, however figuring that he'd just hit traffic in town. After turning on the eleven o'clock news, what they had expected became fact -- there was traffic in town, and he was indeed involved in it. The next morning, a call would come in from the police station, reporting the death of Troy Callahan, slain by a drunk driver.
Devastated, Emma nearly fell to pieces. She resold the home that the Callahan's had purchased, and stayed on living with Taryn and Harlow in Syracuse. Hayden would live with those three, along with Caleb through the age of 12, until Emma's job as a music reviewer brought her to Augusta, Maine, never really knowing his father. Hayden would then attend school in Augusta through his sophomore year at Augusta Senior High. The boy, at the urging of his mother, then transferred to Ivory Falls Academy in Cape Heron, seeking a better education. Moving to the small town just before his junior year, Hayden would get the summer to adjust to the new area, to make new friends; granted, he already had a few in the area. It would prove difficult, but Hayden was sure he'd manage...
strengths; creativity, athleticism, brilliant mind
weaknesses; risk-taker, quick to trust, perhaps overprotective
hidden talent (if any); he can sing nearly anything
likes; the ladies, The Beatles, ice hockey, the beach, Jell-o pudding, singing in the shower
fears; spiders, flying silverware, drunk drivers
height; 5'11"
weight; 176 lbs.
hair; dirty blonde
eyes; honey brown
appearance/clothing; Hayden's style is rather simple -- whatever fits and doesn't itch. He'll buy anything so long as it is comfortable, and is at a reasonable price. Strangely, however he will wear jeans nearly all of the time, so long as the temperature doesn't surpass the ninety degrees mark. Also, as a result of his mother's job, the boy is often found in band t-shirts, and possesses three of the Beatles alone.
In the winter months, the Callahan boy nearly always wears a black, Calgary Flames zip-up sweatshirt that he'd purchased while on vacation in the True North just before entering high school in Augusta. Anyone that sees him though, will find that it's always unzipped, allowing for his t-shirt of the day to show through.
description; Simply put, it's hard to find a time when Hayden doesn't have a smile on his face. He likes nothing more than to laugh and enjoy himself with his friends, or with his mom, curled up on the couch, watching a television showing of The Mask. In addition to that, he also has a knack for putting a smile on the faces of others. As told to him by Emma, he'd been cracking jokes ever since he knew enough English to form sentences.
Hayden is also very competitive. He'd taken to playing ice hockey at the young age of four after having gone up to Buffalo for a Sabres game with Harlow and Caleb as a treat. Callahan outworks nearly everyone, both on and off the ice, to become the best player that he can be, and is determined to make his way out of Maine riding either his talent on the blue line, or with his singing voice. "He just has that fire in his eyes," as his coach of four years in Augusta says, "and never quits, never slows down, never takes a shift off. Hard-nosed that boy is."
He also gets very attached to things that he cares about. His mother, for example, has been the only steady influence on his life, at least as far back as he can remember, and wouldn't trade her for another in the world. His Calgary Flames sweatshirt, too falls into the category of important items; and when not wearing it, always knows where it is, giving it a special spot -- hanging from a knob on his closet.

Bang!
Gabriel shuddered at the sound due to it's sheer volume, aided by a wind whipping harshly at his face, spewing rain in every which direction. He was drenched from head to toe; but that was expected when you've been walking in a storm like the one that was wreaking havoc upon the grounds of the Academy and its outlying areas on this very night.
Gabriel's teeth were chattering with blinding speed as his footsteps brought him ever closer toward the heavy oak doors that marked his home-away-from-home. It had been a while since he'd last set foot within the castle...
With a sigh, he began to recount all that had occured between stays at school. The thoughts definitely weren't pleasant. They were the reason that he'd not smiled in days, not laughed in weeks, and not had anything to be happy about for the past month. His worries about his mother had been hanging over his head much like the clouds above him were now for the past two months; and accompanied by his worry for Rose, whom he'd left behind at the school without a word, needless to say, the boy had been weighed down in his time away.
He couldn't bare to dwell on it much longer -- after all, he was nearly back where he belonged. Everything would be just as he'd left it. Or at least that's what he'd been telling himself.
Bang!
Thunder crashed again. Squinting through the driving rain that crossed his vision nearly parallel to the ground in the wind, Gabriel could make out the stone stairs mere meters away, though only for a moment. He was almost home...
"Ow! Great...just fantastic," Gabriel grumbled, heaving himself up onto two feet again after having fallen over. He'd slammed his foot into the base of the first stair as he'd not been able to see clearly through the storm, and proceeded to slam into the stairs that followed after a heavy fall.
Cursing loudly, he shook off the pain -- he'd already had quite enough of that for a while.
Starting up the stairs, groping for the door, Gabriel had only the thought of how wonderful it would feel to be inside where it's warm and dry spurring him on. If he thought about anything else, he'd likely drop right where he stood. It was all too depressing.
Bang!
Another rumble of thunder, this time accompanied by a flash of lightning. In the brief moment that the sky was alight, Gabriel was able to catch a glimpse of the door handle just ahead. He was back where he belonged, finally. Extending his arm, he grasped the large golden handle, and wrenched the door open. Jumping inside, he collapsed onto the floor just past the threshold. The door closed behind him with a boom, just as thunder roared in the distance...
